JOURNEYS
In our youth
we seek the truth
and answers yet unknown.
Shall I follows footprints
Or leave them when I’m grown

Listen now
to nature’s voice.
Earth Mother sings her song.
Hear the quiet
of the stream
and the Eagle clear and strong

Taste the scent of wildflowers
in the valley
through the trees
that rises now
to greet you
on an early summer’s breeze.

And may you
know the beauty
in the life you share
of butterflies on the flowers…
jewels that float in air.

Know me
as the autumn wind
that blows the ripened seed
through silent meadows
to rise again in spring.

I am as old
as the mountain is long.
When I was young
the father of your grandfather
walked in moccasins
past my saplings.

I am Storyteller.
Let me weave a child’s lullaby.
Then let him dream in peace
throughout the night
for I am also Dream Catcher.

So to Didi and Golden Eagle,
as you live your lives as one,
Creator watches over you
from dawn ‘til setting sun.

But as you near the end
My friends,
Remember all that’s old
Is new
And as you step
Beyond the veil,
Creator waits for you.

Live strong, live long
my friends and Family’s son.

Author’s Note: This is the poem I wrote for and read at Donnie and Didi’s wedding in April of 2008. Donnie is the son of Lynn and Ed Price. I also made a Kodak album for their gift and these were the photos I used in the book.
