INSIDE OUT/OUTSIDE IN

Inside Out

Ah, the call of the wild.
How happy you look out there
Stalking in the garden
Chasing after butterflies.
I saw you only yesterday
Dining on a field mouse
Wondering how it was.
But I am happy too.
I need not worry when it’s cold,
Or bother with the wind and rain.
I guess I’m better off in here
Behind my window pane.

Outside In

I’ve seen you from a distance
curled up upon the bed
And often envied you
And wished it me instead.
You never have to search the fields
To bring your dinner home.
Dogs are sometimes scary
When I go out to roam.
I can see you’re happy
But I am happy too.
And even in my old haunts
I’m always finding new.
And this is where my friends are
As we roam the fields afar.

Alan L. Winters: Inside Out/Outside In
No, it's not a cat in a mirror, it's two cats looking through a window;
one is inside looking out, and the other is outside looking in
