CAREFUL WORDS
And we measure our words
On a yardstick of etiquette
Fearing they may bruise
A fragile flesh or mind.
Are you feeling OK today?
Yes and no, it comes and goes.
So that’s one I cannot answer.
I’m bitter, I’m sad, I’m angry, I’m glad.
After all I live with cancer.
And although I may not thrive
I am very much alive.
So ask me questions as you will
And don’t worry how they sound
So put away your yardstick
And ask while I’m still around.
