Awarded: August 26, 2008We walk in silence past the Wall
Save our muffled cries.
In solitude we reflect
On who and where we are.
And in return the Wall reflects
The names of thousands gone:
Brothers, fathers, cousins, sons
Soldiers all who have moved on.
And from the knoll a bugle plays
And echoes off the Wall
And gives a last farewell
To departed soldiers all.
We walk in solitude
In respect for one another:
Each one of us a stranger,
Each one of us a brother.
