THREE BLIND MICE AND A RAT
In 1980 the Zim Dollar was worth more than a US buck
Bobby Mugabe took over and the Country ran out of luck
He kicked off and killed farmers who knew how to grow
Giving the farms to friends who don’t know how to sew
Crops no longer grow all over Zimbabwe the rich land
No corn for the poor as the Zim Dollar expands
Dr Mugabe the leader lives a very rich life
He lives in a mansion whilst his people live in strife
The blind mice are poverty, and sickness and death
Bobby’s issued new money – all await the rat’s death
One US dollar is now worth 100 billion Zim bucks
As aid flows to Zimbabwe in the back of big trucks
The vote it was rigged and the Rat he held on
Opposition voices quieted in death they are gone
My son in law Mark, he has been in Canada for years
His Zim dollars in the bank, would bring you to tears
Mark sold some of his pieces of his painted Art
Put the money in the bank and for Malawi did depart
Staying away much longer, will he owe the rat money
Bobby Mugabe – bank inflation, now that is not funny

Zimbabwe’s ravaged currency is to be re-valued tomorrow, President Robert Mugabe announced yesterday, slashing 10 zeros off all prices and values. Hyperinflation has destroyed savings and reduced the economy to subsistence levels, with bricks of banknotes needed for even basic transactions. The Zimbabwe dollar was worth more than the American greenback when Britain granted the country independence in 1980. A U.S. dollar is worth about 100 billion Zimbabwe dollars.
