POLICE AMALGAMATION

Billy Willbond: Police Amalgamation (A Discussion)
Oh where oh where will our police protection be gone?
Down town to the needle site and bar scene till dawn!

John Vickers and Mayor Lowe desire Police amalgamation!
Let’s take a hard look at cities all across this great Nation
Drugs and Prostitution and Bar Scene are always down town!
They seek help for their problems from small towns around

We in Saanichton pay for our Police from our tax money
And we have little crime, now isn’t that funny?
CSPS members serve here and they keep the crime stats down
Just look at Esquimalt and what happened to them!
Their crime stats went up when they lost their policemen!

We live here in Saanichton – it is called the land of plenty
Because we have little crime that to others is pure envy!
Our present Central Saanich is a desirable place to reside
Could we say the same if our police response was a half-hour ride?

Author’s Note: Food for thought poetry inspired by the Times Colonist letter written by John Vickers

AMALGAMATED POLICING IS LONG OVERDUE

Where is the leadership of our provincial government with regard to the implementation of a regional police force within Greater Victoria?

How long must the taxpayers of our inner city carry the burden of our region before they are fed up and not going to take it anymore? Toss in the fact it takes more mayors and councils to run this area than it does New York City and you come to the conclusion that waste and special interest are entrenched in our region and nothing will change until leadership from our provincial government rescues us.
