THE SHADOW OF HUNGER

The Shadow of the Shadow of Hunger…!

The shadow of hunger stalks through the land
Northern Kenya, Malawi, and in the Sudan
The cattle all die, the wells are all dry
The small children whimper, too weak to cry

To feeding stations the stick children must go
Because a death from hunger is cruel and slow
The old and young, of course, they die first
True, from malnutrition, but mainly from thirst!

In our Western World filled with corn and grain
We have plenty to eat, no suffering, no pain
How can we let all these human beings die
Without crying out? Without asking why?

Help us feed wee babies at the infant crisis station
Canada is a most generous Nation
Open your cheque-book, your heart and your purse
Help feed the hungry, before it gets worse!

Bless you for caring and thank you for sharing
We appreciate your sending a cheque
