HAGAR THE BOLD

Hagar the Viking in days of old
Came to Ireland to steal Irish gold
But left their seed in our women instead
Giving us blue eyes, and hair coloured red

Up Irish shallow rivers they pulled their boats
Raping our women and stealing our goats
The clergy hid safe up in their high tower
As did Irish Kings and others in power

Today the Danes are after black gold
In the North Sea they drill in the cold
They claim Han Island on Canada’s shore
Belongs to them from the days of yore?

We have to show the flag as push comes to shove
Give them Maple Syrup and Canadian Club
Canadian Commandos should stay camped on Han
And greet each Hagar, as each Viking boat lands!

Author’s Note: The Canadian Arctic is our legacy and one of the few things we have to leave to our children and our grandchildren. Our Canadian Arctic contains the world’s largest storehouse of fresh water. It has untold wealth in diamonds, oil, gold and mine deposits that other countries covet. Not the least of these jealous eyed observers of our Arctic is USA and their dollar backed drilling rigs in the hands of the Danes, looking askance at our shore North of Come by Chance. They all sail freely through our North West Passage without asking permission to sail in Canadian Waters.

We must establish again, our ownership of the Canadian Arctic. If in International Law, possession is 9/10ths of the law, then let us get a platoon base camp established on Han ASAP. Stephen Harpers idea to bring back the Canadian Airborne Regiment with its former expertise doing winter warfare is an excellent one indeed. We must re-plant the Canadian flag on all of our possessions. The Liberals too long neglected our North and if we as a Nation don’t use it we will lose it! There are too many would be Danes and others, like Hagar the Horrible, out there.
