ANSWERING HIS POCKET

Photo ©Copyright John-Ward LeightonOh I’ve listened well and I’ve talked up a storm
On a headset cell phone which seems not really norm
Today what is normal and what appears not
Depends on what type of a cell phone you’ve got
Incoming vibrations or loud musical sounds
Disturbing coffee club members and others around
During coffee at Starbucks, or down there at the mall
Others know you’ll be taking an incoming call
You can go outside to the smoker’s street hell
To answer incoming on your own headset cell
Or sit at your table, coffee cup still in hand
And talk to yourself as best as you can
This is just a wee poem re my old buddy John
Who listens each day to the jazz singer’s song
He writes in his journal at coffee break time
Taking calls on his cell as he sits writing rhyme
