A FAREWELL TO JANIE

It was just three days ago, ‘twas just before the snow
Me and Dick and Sandy, to Victoria we did go
Janie lay in her hospital bed, she was really weak
Very thin, pale skin at least she still could speak

Lynne had been there days before and warned us all to go
So Sandy she came over here just prior to the snow
Janie raised wee Scottie Dogs; won ribbons at the show.
When it came to these wee dogs there’s nothing she didn’t know

Janie died this morning in her Jubilee Hospice bed
So I sit here and shed a tear for all things left unsaid
We were good friends and to the end I knew she’d soon be dead
I gave her a kiss upon the cheek. “God Bless You” was all I said.
