I have seen the tears that Mothers shed
For soldier sons who are now dead.
I have seen the Dads with eyes so red
For wounded sons who fought and bled.

Tears are shed for missing limbs today
And for all the buddies who passed away.
Each Mother in receipt of the Silver Cross
Sheds the tears of her own son’s loss.

I have seen the wives and children who cried
As prayers were said for loved ones who died.
The Padre glanced towards the sky:
He spoke about why soldiers die.

The tears they flow at Trenton’s gate
Whilst the NOK they stand and wait.
In 2011 there is a Government Plan
To stop Canadian tears from Afghanistan.
