Toronto Support the Troops DecalOh me, oh my, oh what a thriller
“I won’t antagonize the Afghan killer?”
States his Worship Mayor David Miller
In his edict from the Municipal Tiller!

It’s okay to insult our Canadian Fighters
Who are stamping out the Taliban Blighters!
It seems his Worship has no balls?
An Islamic voter gave him a negative call?
And now he’d shaking down at City Hall?

The Mayor he just don’t give a F—k?
He’ll remove each sign from off each truck?
That is a very hard slap in the face
For our troops who continue to set the pace!

Support our Canadian troops? It’s too nasty a sign
Say those who call and threaten and whine!
His worship, who’s the grand POO BAH of T.O.
Says: “Remove the ribbons! They have to go!”

TORONTO — Despite complaints the move is an insult to Canadian soldiers, Toronto’s mayor is backing plans to remove “Support our Troops” decals from fire trucks and ambulances, saying they could be construed as an endorsement of the war in Afghanistan.

Mayor David Miller said yesterday the decals will be removed beginning in September, a year after they were first added to the back of about 170 fire trucks and 175 ambulances.

Katherine Hodgson-McMahon, executive director of the Toronto Military Family Resource Centre, called the decision “a bit of a slap in the face,” for the families of Canadian soldiers. Miller said the ribbons were too controversial as the city had “received a number of calls” about them. — CNS
