RIFLEMAN WILLBOND SERVED HIS QUEEN

Rifleman Willbond joined The Rifles, when he was seventeen.
In the 60th Rifles he loyally served Her Majesty His Queen.
He went off to India to help suppress the Mutiny.
Then he went on to China after that Indian Victory.

He fought in the difficult battle at the DaKu Fort.
Then on to the battle of Beijing his battalion went forth.
They burned the summer palace an act of retaliation.
Bringing a loss of great face to the whole Chinese Nation.

He was a Rifle Platoon Sergeant who served 20 years.
Raising fifteen children, with Liza Hunt, so it appears.
His great grandson joined the Rifles at the age of seventeen.
With the British Army on the Rhine he too served His Queen.

Rifleman Willbond was there when they built the Berlin Wall.
When Khrushchev banged his shoe the world was appalled.
President Kennedy stood strong and he would not back down.
When the Cuban Missiles were pointed at American towns.

Platoon Sergeant Willbond saw his battalion removed from the line.
He got a Patricia Cap badge, and with him that was fine.
He served as Ops Sergeant with the AIRBORNE and studied Chinese.
Loyally serving HMQE2 for twenty years, he was pleased.

Both Rifleman Willbond(s) served a hundred years apart.
Both loyally served their Queen(s) with all of their hearts.
The former served Victoria the latter served HMQE2.
It was an honour and a pleasure and the right thing to do.

God save the Queen!
