PORTRAIT OF A SOLDIER
Great Grandpa quelled the Mutiny
and fought at the Taku Fort
And his dad fought in the Valley of death
near a Russian Port
And overseas at Waterloo,
his Great Gramps made a stand
My grandpa fought at the Kyber Pass
and in Afghanistan
My Dad fought in World War Two,
making world peace for me and you
And I joined up at seventeen
to serve my Country and my Queen
Every morning I went for a run
for twenty years I carried a gun
I think of these things now that I'm older
- these portraits of the family soldier
