GUNNER’S FAREWELL

Fifty is only half a life
sad for children sad for wife
Jumpers do not really die
they float forever in the sky

Lorne Ogden was with the Airborne Guns
those lads worked hard from sun to sun
The Battery platforms floated to the ground
followed by Gunners who wafted down

His buddies will see him later on
singing again their Airborne song
Airborne, Airborne who are we?
Best damn Gunners in the Artillery!

Author’s Note: In memory of Lorne Ogden. Lorne served in the Para Battery in Edmonton and also with ‘E’ Bty in Petawawa. He also did a tour with the Sky Hawks in 1977. He was 50 yrs old when he died.
