DID YOU DARE TO SCARE THE MAYOR?

More Comical than a skit by Phyllis Diller
Was the back flip taken by David Miller
His ears were ringing and he took a few notes
That perhaps he just lost the majority of votes?

Not to worry, just now he has changed his opinion
‘Cause he got hate mail from across the Dominion
Fire trucks and ambulances will still show the flag
As he attempts to keep the voter’s in the bag?

He now says Symbolism matters a lot;
Because of the negative mail that he got?
Yesterday the ribbons were to be taken down
Now they’ll stay on the trucks in Toronto’s Hog Town!

TORONTO MAYOR DOES BACKFLIP ON PULLING TROOP DECALS

Times Colonist Thursday June 21 2007

TORONTO — Toronto Mayor David Miller reversed his position and led a city council vote yesterday to continue to affix “Support our Troops” decals to fire and emergency vehicles in the city.

It is important for Canada’s largest city to make a statement,” said Miller, shortly after the vote. “Symbolism matters a lot.”

Earlier this week, Miller said he backed the decision to remove the decals, which he said were too controversial. — CNS
