THE CANADIAN ELECTION – FALL OF 2008

The election it is fast coming – hooray, hooray
MPs will listen to veterans on this Election Day?
Tell your MP clearly what it is you have to say
The election is coming – hooray, hooray

Tell all MPs about each clawed back pension
Advise all MPs to now pay close attention
Anyone who rights these old blatant wrongs
Will sing out clearly their voter victory songs

Listen to victim advocates Dennis and John
Righting the claw-backs won’t take too long
The PM could fix it with a stroke of his pen
Giving old age dignity to old veterans again

Author’s Note: Inspired by the email from Dennis Manuge, reproduced below

Peter Soffer, NDP MP-Sackville Eastern Shore, called me this am to ask me to attend a press conference to discuss veterans’ issues and current military issues.

Where: N.S. Province House in Halifax, NS
When: Thursday September 4th, 2008
Time: 10:00am

You are invited to join us. I look forward to seeing you there! If you are a veteran bring your gongs (metals)!

Dennis Manuge

A veteran – whether active duty, retired, or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his/her life, signed a blank check made payable to “The People of Canada”, for an amount “up to and including my life.”
