ONE OF THE BEST BIRTHDAYS I EVER HAD

‘Twas my finest birthday party that day I turned sixty five
I survived to collect the pensions, it meant I was still alive
They clawed back my Army Pension, and that to me was new
My VAC disability pension was a blessing, as it came through

I got my municipal police cheque and then received the OAP
And then they gave me the Canada Pension, which is not free
We paid for these pensions for year after year
And now that I collect them I won’t shed a tear

I had left the front desk down at HQ, CSPD
And worked for a charity full time, as you see
So my sixty fifth birthday made me very happy
It and the 649 lotto made me free from poverty
