William H.A. Willbond MSM, CD: Airborne All the Way
Evening Drop - Drop Zone Alpha

AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY

Jumping into twilight skies that all paratroopers know
landing soft on silken wing on freshly fallen snow
A 510 set and rucksack, snowshoes, and skis and more
with my C2 and winter whites we trained for a Northern war

I carried the old man's binoculars, and his site map case
some extra stuff I carried whilst a'hurlting into space
I followed my toboggan, as it went out the door
We, the Airborne Brothers, of the 031 Infantry Corps

They disbanded my rifle battalion, the 1 QOR of C
many Rifle buddies - went Airborne along with me
Mountain training, jungle fire lanes, at the AB Battle Schools
Rappelling skills - fire lane quick kills - learning the AB rules

Don Rochester was the Airborne Boss
When he got injured we suffered a loss
I was with him on that fateful day
That man was Airborne all the way!

The MO said he wasn't all that fine
so he took the boss off of the jump line
and after that they started the parades
for all the lads in the Infantry Trades

Off to Chinese studies I then went
at Carleton U, I got one hundred percent
To CFFLS, I then was sent
my Airborne days, all gone, all spent

Now I am old, and my hair is grey
I think about those Saint Michael's Days
Thirty dollars a month 'twas the jump pay
for the brothers of the maroon beret

Airborne all the way!
