Diane M. Weller: Daddy, You're My Hero

DADDY, YOU'RE MY HERO
(For Father's Day, 2006)

Daddy why can't you stay home today?
It's my birthday; I want you here to play!
Daddy why can't you stay home today?
You'll miss another Christmas, Thanksgiving, FAMILY holiday!
DADDY YOU'RE MY HERO

I realize you HAVE to go and I will surely pray
That safely you'll return to mom and me and home you'll be able to stay.
I know you fight for freedom
The Thank You's are so seldom
DADDY YOU'RE MY HERO

Daddy do you know how much mommy and I love you?
Just how much and how often we pray to God above you?
To bring you back to us safe and whole
Never having your heart changed stone cold
DADDY YOU'RE MY HERO

When I grow up and have kids of my own
One thing's for certain; I'm gonna stay home
I'm proud of you Daddy, don't get me wrong
DADDY YOU'RE MY HERO.

Dedicated to the Military Dads of today, so that the Military Dads of tomorrow can, quite possibly,
be free to be home with their children in the future.

Of interest: Father's Day in America is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June... in Australia it is the 3rd Sunday in September
