YOU ARE SO WORTH IT
Making it look so easy
the openness
slicing off a piece of one’s heart each time
offering up
a part of inside
shared as if it didn’t take all the courage one has
sometimes
but you are so worth it
in that prison where reaching out is impossible
and the loneliness feeds the fears
suspicion creates untold misunderstandings
mistrust shuts out reality
having listened to stupid, meaningless phrases
pledging love, friendship and caring
more black ink on white paper
so the words never travel far enough
to become bandages
on the rips and gashes and bleeding holes
of what you used to be
when tears flow out along with speech
sounding ugly, mean and bitter and totally rejecting
when I walk in the door
of your life.
