Lock and Load that righteous response
destroying oneself in the process
fired by adrenaline, un-nuanced
a massive price, humanity’s loss

without understanding a culture
as outsiders, two choices only are left
either “just like us”, or “Other”:
animal… object… humanity-bereft

whence and whenever that terror comes
by Airliner, IED, drone, or grenade
fervor wrapped action finding its victims
the human toll is the same
