IRAQ

They went they died
Some a mortal death, others mental
To some, Heroes – others Infidels
Though they returned but not like Nam

They left blood where ever they were
On the sands and each other
Though brought home mental horrors visions
Of life and death of brothers and those they tried to defend

But to home they existed in limbo between here and there
Life and death shadows day and night even in sleep
In dark minds passing time
Who was I before I left?

Now estranged as a stranger divided not knowing how
Darkness between except between brothers of knowing
Nightmares of life death and fear not shared nor understood
Who is he now that he has returned?
