WATCHING THROUGH THE WINDOW

Watching through the window
To see the breaking dawn
It was such a long last night
All my energy is gone

My hand rubs my stubbled chin
My eyes are heavy and red
It’s hard to see where night leaves off
And when the day begins

I’ll turn and leave the window
Go to the waiting glass
I’ll take my first morning drink
Now the bottle is gone at last

I break the seal on Johnny Red
And pour the tumbler full
Maybe I can fall in bed
And forget I’m such a fool
