THE STONE UNTURNED

Awarded: December 4, 2007I found once a stone unturned
A rare exceptional prize
For wisdom a lesson learned
Saved especially for the wise
To turn or not to turn
Was the question that I had
If I turned—no lesson learned
And the wiser would be sad
I left the stone for today
Unturned in pristine form
As I went on my way
I was happy not forlorn
I’ll return again sometime
And watch for the stone
It may have been another sign
Of things, better left alone
