MORNING THOUGHTS

The lonely song of the Whip-Poor-Will
Wakes me from silent slumber
The sparrow on the window sill
Visited every day this summer

When I wake it’s time for thought
My mind wanders from place to place
I think of fishing and the fish I caught
I think of all the stars floating out in space

I wonder when man will ever learn
The value of this land
When will he never burn
The bridge on which he stands

I wonder will man ever know
That there is no reason to fight
We are all one species to show
We share all human plights

I think of how our children grow
In a world of the darkest nights
Will they harvest the seeds they sew
In a world without sun light
