WHEN
When the words of a loved one
Changes to acid
Attacks the very heart of you
When before they had your back
Unexpectedly
Darkly
Without anticipation
Then the name arises
From the depth of humanity
A name as old as time itself
‘Morning Star’
‘Satan’
But always the ‘Prince of Lies’
Allowing a label to be added
That justifies the action
Used by the masses
To allow the digression
But what if we refuse
Ignore the outburst
Allow the snip
Stand back and observe the reason
Or not
Allow the choice
Rather than the reaction
Then whatever others believe
Whatever causes it
Will have less power over you
Allow you and yours to be
Rather than as others are
In a world of darkening pain
