THIS HEART OF MINE

This heart of mine is painful from the pressure
Of the constant barrage of the world today
It hurts in ways I try not to think long on
And it catches my breath within my chest
The loss I see in my life makes me wonder
If I’ve made the right choice to allow myself to love
When others with their heart made out of crystal
Stand and tell me I’m too soft and should harden up

But my secret I will tell you
Listen carefully
For if the heart’s a muscle
Exercised it must be
And the heartfelt emotions
I have suffered
Keeps it running like a
Lotus Esprie

And when those mineral hearted ones do suffer
Their hearts shatter into a million shards
And are scattered over miles of earth and tears
And engulf those close when this process starts
They then ask help for all their tiniest dolour
While you have endured total endless grief
And ask your support when others walk away
When they did the same when pain became a thief

Your heart then calls out to you from its chamber
And lets you understand the message that
Lord Jesus told us long before his passing
That ‘tis better to serve than suffer all alone
So hold their hand and know that they are weaker
And that your strength comes from the battle royal
And you are a warrior of the heart
And should be proud to show your wounds
And battle scars
