CHANGE
Maturity in a sea of youth
Drains the body and mind
The body size changes
But the voice remains the same
Wanting
Grasping
Defensive
Always whining
Always constant
Always demanding
So stop
Stand
Wait
Is this you or them
Are they here or there
There being a time before
Before you
Before this
Before now
Look and listen
Decipher and decode
Note the age of the mind not the body
For that is who is speaking
Not the one before you
Slapping legs won’t work here
Sending to bed even less
Stop and take a breath
Pay attention
See what happens
It will increase or decrease
Accelerate or slow
But something will happen:
Note the change,
Remember how it started
And work on it from here
