James H. Smith

No matter how much we wish, or cry
We can never be again whom we have been
We became new in the now
Being more than we’ve ever been

I long for the place where time stands still
To return to the place from whence I come
Leave this place of confusion and fear
This place of artificial time

Hide you now within the drugs or alcohol
Looking for solitude, belonging, looking to love
Running from the ghosts that never were
Holding to shattered dreams that can never be

To this place, this sphere, this existence I’ve come
Within this place I’m told I don’t belong
Perhaps time’s trail will lead me here again
For now I long for a place where time stands still
