To discover… we may
by going through the rubble
searching for a clue…
those broken tokens of a lost race
Wondering anew…
who were these citizens
of this old civilization
who were once revered as a nation
Statues and monuments
are crumbled to dust
Mighty motors and
machines all gone to rust
Their motto written
… ‘In God We Trust’
can still be read all around
Who were these people
… and who was their God
that they vanished thus…
