ANTIQUE PRINT AND SONG

The embalmed body of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (Russian: Владимир Ильич Ленин) (22 April 1870 – 21 January 1924) has lain in public view in Lenin’s Mausoleum in Red Square, Moscow, since January 27, 1924 - a few days after his death.Lenin’s body
has laid in the square
eighty years… eighty years
that he has been there
The people revered him
but his ideas stifled them
Democracy rings
and now freedom sings
Just where
do old monarchs go
when they are not
revered anymore
Tucked away
on an old book shelf
may be the place
for Lenin himself
to study his ideas
in antique print and song…
perhaps there he can figure
just where he went wrong…
