(In Memory of the Holocaust)

Bunks inside the Auschwitz barracksWhen you bunked at Auschwitz…
did you sleep and dream
cuddling your children closer to you
… wondering if the world knew
what was happening to you

Praying that a savior would come
or did you dream of fields of flowers
planted in remembrance
of those of you who perished
while the world hesitated
and you lost all you cherished

Caught forever in a world of horror
… victims of a madman’s terror
Your destruction…
the intent of his scheme
Tell me… Did you sleep and dream…
