SORRY-ASSED WANNABES

I hear that term now and again
In the sixties and seventies
I don’t remember any wannabes…
must be back then
… they didn’t wannabe
They just couldn’t handle the flack
What it takes is just what they lack
Today they’ll steal your honor
so better watch your back
It’s an old… old story…
a wannabe wantin’ to cash
stolen chips in on your glory…
givin’ you a dance and a story
If they wanted a piece of that rock
they should’a punched in
on that old Vietnam time clock…
