Soldier… from the not so distant past
May your laurels be laced with roses at last
Beautiful yellow roses for remembrance
Of the war you gladly fought in the past
Remembrance of why you fought
And of the brothers who fought by your side
Do lace your laurels with roses of red
For the love and the thanks that was unsaid
Thanks for serving on the side of right
From one for whom you have ensured hope
Top the laurel with a rose of white
