NOVEMBER DREAM

I slept fitfully
Tossed and turned
I dreamed of soldiers
soldiers bleeding and dying

I dreamed of Texas
Texas and crying
Of feet running
And a madman

A madman gunning
Trying to take aim
To take aim
At his own pain

Was this the American Dream
With death and dying in its scheme
Was this the American Dream…?

I dreamed…

Of death and dying
North and South vying
Of the Fallen
On foreign beaches
In Korea’s frozen Reaches
In leech infested Asian jungles
Of Mideast’s distant rumbles
Of Colorado schools
And little Amish girls
Of Waco
And now Fort Hood
The American Dream
Is sometimes no good

A nightmare in the dark

Is this the American Dream
With death and dying in its scheme
Is this the American Dream…?
