HOMETOWN GIRL
She swapped in her sandals
……………… for combat boots
The girl was proud of her roots
She went off to save the world
She’s just your hometown girl
Now we hang our heads in shame…
Scandal’s associated with her name
Torture and disgrace… in a foreign place
Where were you taught these values
that we see in pictures on the news
Does the answer lie in our hometowns
Are we to blame for these Iraqi clowns
We must have failed in school… church and home
Are these soldier children just acting on their own
The world will watch us reap what we sow…
our payment for letting ‘The Golden Rule’ go
Did we not learn… ‘Do Unto Others’…
as children at the knees of our mothers
She swapped in her sandals
……………… for combat boots
The girl was proud of her roots
She went off to save the world
She’s just your hometown girl…
Now we are less in the eyes of the world…
