Arlington National CemetaryIn my mind
I can see
rows upon rows
stretching seemingly
away into eternity
A blanket of green
and rows…
so many rows
of white crosses…
all very pristine
I can hear
hear echoes of salutes
volleys of twenty one guns
saying ‘well done’
There are tears
… tears in my eyes
for my heart cries
for the lost loves
lying here
Fathers and sons…
grandfathers and brothers…
husbands and wives
… now forever lovers
My heart has seen this through
another’s eyes
as his tears fell
from mine
and ever so silently…
my ears felt the
echoes of his sighs…
