A TOAST TO MY LADY
Walking on the beach… in the cool morning breeze
Your face is the sunrise… your beauty puts me at ease
I can feel the warmth… coming from your smile
And the soft blue of Love… escaping form the skies.
The grasp of your hand… holds me together
I can stand against the winds… in any weather
My Heart beats loud… when you are near
When away… it beats so low… even I cannot hear.
Tonight at midnight… another day will pass me by
Every day is the eve of my birth… alas poor cupid… I must sigh
Your arrow did strike… two hearts straight and pure
But, one heart, nicked by it’s shaft… yet to be sure.
I can walk through a War… without a hit or a wound
But let me walk through Love… I’m downed by the moon
I could scream from the pain… but people would hear me
I’ll wait… scream alone… when only I can hear… only I can see.
I can write verse upon verse… of her Beauty… inside and out
I want her to know my Love for her… is expressed without doubt
A Toast my Love… to the days ahead… to years of Peace
A Toast… to my LADY OF LIBERTY………………
