A LASTING HELL

Fifty years of age and still alive
A driving Force… coming from somewhere inside
Why…? What brought me back from GOD’S PEACE
Only to endure the Lasting Hell of the Demon Fleece?
The Guilt still lingers… of so many Dead
The One’s who didn’t come back… are alive in my Head
I’m sorry Ace… but I can’ say Goodbye
And Dennis… I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you why.
Everyday it hurts to rise from sleep
Only to face another day… filled with much hidden Grief
Tears well up… in the corner of my eyes
From Memories and Dreams… of the Last Goodbye’s.
To those who can’t Fathom… or Understand
I can’t give my Heart to you… I left it in Vietnam
We have New Wars now… of a Shorter Duration
A New Victory… Atoning for a Misled… Defeated Generation.
