WILL OUR LEADERS CRY?

As our leaders make decisions
I really wonder if they all care
Should we trust our politicians
When a war has been declared

If foreign places we must tread
We only hope they really tried
If our soldiers come home dead
Will we all see our leaders cry

Will they care about lives at stake
If they decide we must have war
Will leaders kneel down to pray
Will we be safe inside our shores

I wonder if they will apologize
If we find they are all to blame
Will they hear all the children cry
If their daddy comes home lame

Will they care when our phone rings
Or when we must open up our door
As they tell us what tomorrow brings
Without the children we adore

Will they be at the church steeple
After the bodies are shipped home
Will they be honest with the people
Then tell us why we are left alone

If they declare another war today
Will the tears fall from their eyes
Will we see them kneel and pray
Then will we see our leaders cry
