THE UNMADE BED
I look at our rumpled unmade bed
and think of things I wish I’d said
and things I wish you hadn’t done,
before we two became just one.
I look at the pillows side by side
knowing they’re damp with tears I’ve cried,
knowing you sleep somewhere new
while I toss and turn the evenings through.
