THE NORTHWIND

“North Wind” by Jessie Wilcox-SmithThe Northwind wraps her arms
around the winter night
and winds her thoughts through
bare-branch trees
until the morning light.
By 10:00, She’s settled down
She’ll rest a little now, I think;
The snow will drift against the doors
the family will sit before the fire
and the pond will become a skating rink.
