THE FACING OF THE NIGHT…

Dane and wife, Bunny
Dane and wife, Bunny
Those dear hearts
whose loved ones have been lost ~
those lonely souls who carry on,
all deserve a medal;
they’ve paid the cost…

For the Days are fine,
but the Nights are long
the hours are quietly dark,
not made for easy sleeping,
made for too much thinking ~
and a muffled weeping
while the stars are winking.

There is nothing, now, about
the Night to make them love it.

Those of the wounded heart
deserve a ribbon
for the mere act of
getting through the Night,
and for the simple act
of the facing of it.
