THIS WAR
Reading and re-reading
some angry-seeming words
deposited to this vault
makes me wonder if
this War might be
somewhat at fault.
Those of you
who’ve been there
have to be on edge
I, who was an airman’s wife,
am now a soldier’s mother
I feel myself
teetering on the ledge
of tears
and sadness
fear, and anger
I want to argue
with someone
regardless of the danger…
So, take a breath
and drink a cup of good, hot tea
and realize that Life and War
are sometimes, the enemy ~
rather than you, or me.
