SECTION 60

A Tree Grows in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery
A Tree Grows in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery
Breathing falters
birds fly low
Soldiers standing
in a row…

Mother’s sitting
hands are clenching
teeth are gritting
soul is flinching…

Screaming “no”
in inner silence
agonizing feeling
sense reeling

Her son, a father,
the nephew and the brother
have fallen now
like many another.

For Iraqi Freedom
he has died
The flag is folded
her tears have dried.

Was it worth it?
She must believe
her hero’s courage
set them free.

Section 60’s
now his home ~
now, near his brothers
he’s not alone

Section 60
in Arlington:
Home to many
Home to one.
