“We need you” or
“You’ve read my life” and
“Please… keep writing (because)
you say, so well, what we feel.”

I live on those compliments
for days
but it all still seems a bit unreal
that those who served
believe my words might heal –
One said my words
are like a “salve,
a healing balm” –

These are the reasons
I write about Vietnam.
