MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 1998
For the Parents of M.I.A.

Dear Son:

It’s been thirty years –
Ten Thousand Nine Hundred
and Fifty Days
give or take a few
since dad and I lost you.
On this Memorial Day,
I wonder, yet again,
if you still walk
this earth with living men.
I sometimes feel as if
I’m going mad
I’m always sad –
my heart is raw and sore,
the aftermath of war.
You are still missing
but, I have never let you go.
My son,
dear one,
I love you so.
