Barbara Sharik
Barbara currently writes a weekly column for the Bastrop Daily Enterprise, Bastrop, LA. She had an article published in Birds & Blooms Magazine, 1998; a short piece in Dark and Stormy Rides Again, an anthology, 1996, published by Penguin Paperback Books; a short story in QPB Presents the World’s Best Shortest Stories, published by Quality Paperback Book Club, 2001; wrote the history of Wilmot, Ark entitled A Collection of Recollections – Wilmot, Arkansas; a winning entry in Quoth the Raven, Evermore, sponsored by The Mystery Guild and Doubleday, two short story volumes published privately entitled Slices and Chips; several volumes of poetry published, and won a number of writing awards over the years.
For fun several years ago, she entered the Jay Leno Comedy Challenge and was one of eight semi-finalists doing a stand-up comedy routine – she didn’t win, but since has performed the routine a number of times.
Barbara is currently at work on a book tentatively entitled “The Auntie Chronicles”, a humorous mystery novel.
Born in Glen Burnie, MD, Barbara has lived a number of places in the US and overseas, including 8 years at Ft Myer, VA when her father was stationed at the Pentagon; she graduated from High School in El Paso, TX and now call Jones, LA home.
Barbara says, “I still get emotional when I hear Taps being played, and a Military Convoy brings back memories.”
