William H. Schroeder
Bill served as a dog handler from 1966 to 1969. Most handlers went to Vietnam but Bill was not eligible as he was a sole surviving son. Bandit and Bill worked on the ROK Army section of the DMZ in Korea and were there for the “USS Pueblo” incident when things really heated up.
After the US Army, Bill became a police officer and worked his way through the profession for 18 years. When he retired, he was a major crimes investigator, mostly homicide. His early retirement was the result of a drunk driver hitting Bill’s vehicle head on in 1988. He is now the owner of a detective agency in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
